House Rock

Yesterday I enjoyed an Obsidian hike to House Rock in Oregon’s Cascade Mountains. The trail runs along the historic Santiam Wagon Road from Sisters to Albany and parallels the South Santiam River. The old growth forest was lush and green from recent rains and embellished with abundant splashes of yellow, red, and orange foliage – very beautiful!

House Rock is a giant boulder “the size of a two-story house”. The cave underneath the rock could house a large pioneer family! We also enjoyed House Rock Falls, a fantastic 30-foot cascade waterfall – great outing!
