Table Mountain Hike Cape Town South Africa

Finally sorted (pidgin English setting in) the best way to get up to the Table Mountain (Tafelberg in Afrikaans) hiking trails without renting a car for the entire day or taking an expensive taxi. Needless to say from City Bowl it is straight UP hill after hill and a rigorous workout but more than worth the effort. With heavenly weather this week everyone was out and about today – Saturday. From my vantage point coming down the other side of the mountain I could see that the Atlantic Ocean beaches were bubbling with activity too – photo attached.

I’m working up to the 12 apostles hike which is one of the most difficult hikes on Table Mountain. The 12 apostles are the 12 peaks of Table Mountain. They stretch from the most famous flat-topped peak right above the city bowl to Hout Bay and tower over Camps Bay and the Atlantic seaboard. The hike extends right across the top of these 12 peaks from Llandudno Beach in Camps Bay to Kasteelspoort (Castle’s Gate in Afrikaans). The views take your breath away!

I will change flats in August and one possibility is near Signal Hill in Tamboerskloof. It would be a great place for easy access to the hiking trails!

Connected with a South African Servas member who is out of town but returning soon and we will get together. Met a group of high school boys on the mountain – being naughty and smoking but they were sweet. One of them was celebrating his 15th birthday.

Great Day!
