Last night, Theodore appeared with his band in Megaron Garden. He performed “live tracks from his entire discography,” as well as “first-time- to-public snapshots” from his upcoming album.

I became interested in electronic “trance music” during the pandemic lockdown in 2020. It’s great exercise music, and some of it also works for meditation. Favorites are Robert Miles, Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, and Johan Gielen. When I saw Theodore (a.k.a. Theodore “Floating”) was performing at Megaron Garden, I got a ticket.

“Theodore has over 150 entries in major festivals in the US and Europe, such as the South by Southwest Festival in Austin Texas, where he appeared in 2018 and 2019. He’s released three solo albums, with the fourth in production. His work has been highlighted by international media, such as the BBC and National Public Radio (NPR), where Theodore participated in one of the famous NPR Tiny Desk sessions.

“Theodore completed his composition studies at London’s Middlesex University in 2012. Since then, he’s composed works for film, theater, music, and dance, often using extensive ensembles in his orchestrations. His sound combines the classic style with modern electronic elements. Theodore collaborated with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra while recording his third album Inner Dynamics.”

Theodore’s team includes the following musicians and production specialists. He spoke in Greek, so I missed his commentary and introductions:

  • Song, Piano, Keyboard – Theodore
  • Synths Percussion – Kostas Zambos
  • Bass – Nikolas Papachronopoulos
  • Guitar – Dionyssis Morfis
  • Front of House Sound Engineer – Vangelis Moschos
  • Monitor Sound Engineer – Vangelis Chasiotis
  • Stage Hand Recording – Stavros Georgiopoulos
  • Lighting – Melina Zervaki
  • Band – 2 violins, viola, cello, trumpet, saxophone, French horn, others

It was an interesting performance, and despite the extreme heat here in Athens, the evening in Megaron Garden was very cool.
